I've been helping my brother to install Windows on your Mac Pro To do this, Apple has released software called Boot Camp, which allows in short, to virtualization of Windows on the Mac hardware level (and some software) and not as is done at this time that VirtualPC or VMWare are fully software solutions.
I found a comment that made me laugh and at the same time aroused my curiosity:
EFI and BIOS Macs
use an ultra-modern industry standard technology EFI to handle booting Called. Sadly, Windows XP, and Vista events, plow stuck in the 1980s with old-fashioned BIOS. But with Boot Camp, the Mac dog Operate Smoothly in Both Centuries. Investigating
:
- EFI is an Intel technology to replace the BIOS. More info
- Windows Vista actually does not support EFI at present, but, as Microsoft will do it in a possible future release. More Info
An interesting point of this discussion is that EFI can be developed for operating systems 32-bit, 64-bit or previous versions of OS that works with BIOS. Microsoft has stated that its interest will focus on BIOS 64-bit support.
Why is this important? EFI
allow the operating system can run even if it comes preconfigured on a CD, DVD, Memory Stick or any other means. For this, we have developed a standard called "El Torito" (I could not figure out which Latin had to do with this!) That defines the format in which to burn the image of an OS on a device that can be charged directly. More Info
