physical offices "Stuck in the 1980s with old-fashioned BIOS" Content Summary

I've been helping my brother to install Windows on your Mac Pro To do this, Apple has released software called Boot Camp, which allows in short, to virtualization of Windows on the Mac hardware level (and some software) and not as is done at this time that VirtualPC or VMWare are fully software solutions.

I found a comment that made me laugh and at the same time aroused my curiosity:

EFI and BIOS Macs

use an ultra-modern industry standard technology EFI to handle booting Called. Sadly, Windows XP, and Vista events, plow stuck in the 1980s with old-fashioned BIOS. But with Boot Camp, the Mac dog Operate Smoothly in Both Centuries. Investigating

:

  • EFI is an Intel technology to replace the BIOS. More info
  • Windows Vista actually does not support EFI at present, but, as Microsoft will do it in a possible future release. More Info

An interesting point of this discussion is that EFI can be developed for operating systems 32-bit, 64-bit or previous versions of OS that works with BIOS. Microsoft has stated that its interest will focus on BIOS 64-bit support.

    Why is this important? EFI
allow the operating system can run even if it comes preconfigured on a CD, DVD, Memory Stick or any other means. For this, we have developed a standard called "El Torito" (I could not figure out which Latin had to do with this!) That defines the format in which to burn the image of an OS on a device that can be charged directly. More Info

Available September 12: MCITP Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70 -441): Designing Database Solutions by Using Microsoft SQL Server (TM) 2005

I have received a notice from Amazon today that the latest book in which I participated as an author will be available for sale starting in September 12. Already

can apply for pre-sale.

The book is " MCITP Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-441): Designing Database Solutions by Using Microsoft SQL Server (TM) 2005 ."

I have written 3 chapters to this book:
- Chapter 6 Designing Objects That Retrieve Data
- Chapter 10 Designing a Test Plan for a Database
- Chapter 11 Creating a Performance Baseline

In the development of Chapter 10 have received invaluable help of my friend Marino Posadas .

As co-authors in this book have been involved: Dejan Sarka (Slovakia), Andy Leonard (USA) and Javier Loria (Costa Rica). In addition we have received help from Francisco Gonzales and Jesus Lopez (both from Spain).

The book, as its title implies, is a design book Database in SQL Server 2005. There are some chapters that deal with issues over implementation, but in general, is a book of guidelines and practices for proper design of elements in the database.

Note that the chapters that I have had to write my They have more to do with testing techniques. This is a detail that I found interesting, on the basis of webcasts di on Visual Studio Team System for Database Professionals , the fact that the world database is already organizing practices around the world learned of component development (versioning, unit testing, performance testing focused on BD, refactoring, etc).

Finally, the book has been hard work but we are happy with the end result! - Highly recommended!
